Using clickfind

Q. When searching, what’s the difference between products, services and businesses?

A product is something you can buy and own, usually a real object (TV, tools, food, etc) although it can be virtual (like software or digital music). A service is something a business provides to you (accommodation, cleaning, training, etc). A business is a registered entity (company, sole trader, charity, etc).

For example, if you search for “hairdressing”…
Select products, and you’ll find hair care products
Select services, and you’ll find hairdressers and related services
Select businesses, and you’ll find businesses with “hairdressing” in their name or description.

Q. How can I locate products, services or businesses near where I live?

On the search page, enter your postcode, and a search radius (eg 20km). The search results will show only the results that are within the radius you specified. Each of the listings will show the distance away from your postcode. To show the nearest ones first, click the “sort by distance” link at the top.
If you register as a user (free) or add your business, your postcode is saved so all your searches will show the distance from your postcode. If you want to search in a different location (for example if you’re going on holiday) you can look up other postcodes using the handy postcode finder- see the link next to the postcode search panel.

Q. How can I get more accurate search results?

As a general rule, the more keywords you enter, the more accurate the search results will be. For example, if you’re looking for a pet sitting service, type “pet sitting” rather than just “pets”. Don’t forget you can narrow down your results by distance, if you enter a postcode and search radius. If you don’t get enough results, try other keywords, or try searching businesses instead of products or services. Because the clickfind listings are growing all the time, you’ll find your searches may get different results each time, as more businesses add product and service details.

Q: Why do I have to register before I can send a message to a business?

A: These days with all the SPAM and rules and regulations we need to protect email addresses from spam bots and users who want to harvest email addresses for the purpose of sending SPAM. When you create a free account with clickfind we know that you truly own your email address, and at the same time we can protect your privacy by not disclosing your email address to the business you’re contacting. Creating a free account with clickfind also has many other benefits, such as remembering your postcode for distance searches, or allowing you to save lists of favourites. Click here to register

Q. If I send a message to a business, when and how will I get a reply?

When you send a message to a business, you’ll receive an email copy of your message, which you can also get to on the clickfind website under “My account” in your “sent messages” folder.

How long a business takes to reply is up to them, depending on their availability and responsiveness. If your enquiry is urgent, or you don’t receive a reply, it’s usually best to phone the business. When they reply, you’ll receive a notification via email, and a copy of the reply will be saved in your online account.

Q. How do I know the businesses listed on clickfind are genuine?

All businesses registering with clickfind have to have a valid ABN (Australian Business Number).

Q. What should I do if I see a product or service listing I think is inappropriate?

From the listing page, click the link that says “report errors in this listing”. On the report form, tick the relevant box to indicate it is inappropriate and use the comments box to explain why. If you’d like to know the outcome, click the “yes” button and you’ll receive an email when we’ve investigated the listing you reported.
